October 13, 10:23 p.m.: A person reported hearing a possible domestic dispute. Officers arrived in the area, and found the reported address was invalid. Contact was made with residents at a similar numbered address. Everyone there was OK, and the occupants had not heard anything out of the ordinary. Officers remained in the area for a while, but only heard creatures of the night.
October 14, 11 a.m.: A woman reported her ex-boyfriend came into the house and removed some of his personal belongings without a police escort after having been served a protection order. The man was located and arrested for violation of the protection order.
October 14, 11:31 a.m.: A man called police to report a hit and run to his car in a parking lot in the 400 block of C Street. An officer arrived and contacted several persons of interest, including the owner of a car with damage similar to that on the victim’s car. The investigation is ongoing.
October 14, 1:57 p.m.: A business reported a suspicious incident. A man came to the business and said he was a federal agent and asked to enter the business. The employees did not believe the man and did not allow him to enter the business. The man then asked to have a free coffee because he was a federal agent. The employee informed the man that real police and federal agents are not allowed to accept free items. The man paid and left on foot. The employees were told to call police the next time the man arrived.
October 14, 2:02 p.m.: The Blaine Elementary School called to request a welfare check on a student who had been absent for 10 days and whose parent had been unreachable. An officer checked the apartment and found no furniture or belongings inside. The information was passed on to the school.
October 14, 6:05 p.m.: Officers responded with the fire department to a medical emergency at the Blaine Library. Officers arrived and stood by with the patient until aid arrived on scene. During the incident two glass windows had been damaged. Public works was advised of the incident for repair purposes.
October 15, 2:48 a.m.: A transient male found shelter in a woman’s unlocked, parked car at a 24-hour business. The woman came out to her car for a break and found the man sleeping in her back seat. Police were called. The man was not wanted but did want to go home to a relative’s house in Bellingham. An officer transported the man home.
October 15, 6:48 a.m.: Police were dispatched to a single vehicle that had gone off the roadway. Officers found the vehicle and observed evidence of several types of drugs and paraphernalia while looking for the vehicle’s registration. The car was towed to the police department and secured while awaiting a warrant to search it. Investigation is ongoing.
October 15, 2:07 p.m.: Police responded to the 600 block of Adelia Street for a 55-year-old man who fell off the roof. Officers arrived and found the man with an injury to his ankle. Luckily for the man, when he fell he did not strike his head or have any other serious injuries. North Whatcom Fire and Rescue transported the man to the ER.
October 15, 9 p.m.: Blaine Police contacted the driver of a vehicle experiencing mechanical issues. The officer was able to jump-start the vehicle for the driver to get his vehicle back home for needed repairs.
October 15, 9:26 p.m.: Blaine Police stopped a vehicle for defective equipment. The driver of the vehicle had a suspended license. The driver was arrested, cited and released with a mandatory court date.
October 16, 8:56 a.m.: An officer responded to the 200 block of B Street where a woman was experiencing chest pain. Officer arrived and monitored the patient until aid arrived.
October 16, 11:10 a.m.: Blaine Police were called to a report of threats having been made. According to the complainant, her daughter threatened her life through statements made to a third person. The suspect is known to have emotional problems and a history of assaulting others. The case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review of charges.
October 16, 2:01 p.m.: Officer located two juveniles walking down a street away from the high school while school was in session. Officer contacted the two juveniles and determined they had not checked out properly. Officer brought the two juveniles back to the high school and turned them over to the vice principal.
October 16, 3:20 p.m.: The domestic violence advocate requested a welfare check on a victim she had been unable to reach for some time. An officer went to the woman’s last known address and found she had moved. The advocate is going to attempt contact via mail at a secondary address.
October 17, 12:20 a.m.: A motel manager called police to report a male and female guest having an alcohol-fueled argument in their room. The manager asked police to keep the peace while he ejected the couple from their quarters. Two officers and two backup U.S. Border Patrol field agents contacted the couple. They were not wanted, no orders exist between them and they had not committed any crimes. The pair moved out and got by with a little help from their friends. Case closed.
October 17, 2:30 a.m.: Blaine Police assisted North Whatcom Fire and Rescue by responding to a report of a woman having difficulty breathing. The officer contacted the woman and kept her calm until medics could arrive. Medics evaluated the woman.
October 17, 6:08 a.m.: Customs and Border Protection officers at the Peace Arch port of entry intercepted a B.C. man driving with a suspended driver’s status in California. A Blaine Police officer arrested the man for the criminal license violation, cited and released him pending his appearance in court.
October 17, 1:16 p.m.: Police responded to the Peace Arch port of entry for a report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection of a 20-year-old B.C. man in possession of a fake ID and alcohol. The B.C. man was arrested, cited and released with a mandatory court appearance.
October 17, 8:45 p.m.: Blaine Police contacted a wanted man after he failed to appear for court. The man was arrested and booked into Whatcom County Jail.
October 18, 10:32 a.m.: Officer was dispatched to the Peace Arch port of entry for a vehicle that had stolen plates on it. An officer arrived and found the person’s vehicle license plates had been switched with those from a stolen vehicle. The plates were seized and placed into evidence.
October 18, 11:10 a.m.: An officer came across a vehicle parked unattended in the middle of the roadway with its hazards lights on. The officer directed traffic around the vehicle until the owner returned and assisted the owner with pushing the vehicle off the roadway.
October 18, 2:55 p.m.: A person reported someone damaged his wooden mailbox the previous night. Case under investigation.
October 18, 7:19 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Peace Arch for a suspended driver. The officer arrived and verified the Washington state suspension. The British Columbia resident was arrested and released with a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license third.
October 18, 11:08 p.m.: Officers were requested to assist the Washington State Patrol in locating a red semi truck northbound on the interstate from milepost 252 that had been involved in a hit and run collision. Officers checked several areas in town, but did not locate it.
October 19, 1:10 a.m.: Blaine Police responded to a report of an adult male having a seizure. The patient fell against the bathroom door blocking access. With the assistance of a family member officers opened the door allowing access for medics to provide treatment.
October 19, 11:50 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of Runge after a garbage truck struck a parked car. It was found that the garbage truck was attempting to pick up a garbage can when the mechanical arm extractor opened too much, hitting the car next to the extractor arm. There was damage to the parked vehicle and to the garbage truck’s extractor arm.
October 19, 3 p.m.: Officers attempted to serve a warrant in the 600 block of A Street, but the person was not located.
October 19, 3:24 p.m.: A family came into the police department to speak with an officer to report a person was communicating with their minor daughter for immoral purposes. The case is under investigation.
October 19, 5:07 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a non-injury collision in the 600 block of 6th Street. Officers arrived and investigated the mishap. One driver was issued an infraction for unsafe/improper backing and the collision was documented.
October 19, 11:13 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to report of an out of control woman in a Blaine drinking establishment. Officers arrived and contacted the woman who was outside. It was found that the woman became upset for an unknown reason and hit the glass door to the business several times before leaving. The Blaine resident was issued a trespass warning not to return to the business or she would face arrest. The resident agreed to stay away, and she was given a courtesy ride to her home.
October 19, 11:59 p.m.: At the request of Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Blaine confirmed a warrant for a Blaine resident deputies had detained. The warrant was confirmed and a copy faxed to the jail. Dispatch removed the warrant from the system.
October 20, 1:38 a.m.: Officers contacted a disabled semi tractor-trailer on Boblett Street. The semi had a ruptured hydraulic line, which the driver was working on fixing. The driver cleaned up the spilled fluid with absorbent materials and officers cleared the scene.
October 20, 7:20 a.m.: A security company called to report a burglary alarm was going off at a business. Officer arrived and contacted an employee who did not know the alarm had gone off because he did not hear anything when he opened up the doors. Officer filled out a false alarm notification.
October 20, 10:02 a.m.: A woman came in to the Blaine Police Department to report that her son’s cell phone was stolen, along with a few other items, while he was attending Blaine High School. A police officer went to the school and investigated the crime. In the course of the investigation, a clear suspect was developed and interviewed. The suspect admitted to the theft and was arrested and released to the custody of his parents. Two of the three stolen items were recovered and handed over to police. The items will be returned to the victim. The case will be forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor’s office for charging.
October 20, 10:51 a.m.: A person reported she walked out of a business and was about to get into her vehicle when she noticed a man sitting in the vehicle next to her was exposing himself. Case under investigation.
October 20, 11:45 a.m.: A man called to report he was sitting in his car eating lunch in the private parking lot of his work when the car door of the vehicle parked next to him opened up. The door struck the side of his vehicle, and when he contacted the person in the vehicle he asked for her insurance in case there was damage. The person said they did not have insurance. The man could not find any damage to his vehicle, but just wanted the police to know the other person was driving a vehicle without insurance. An officer contacted the person and advised her to get vehicle insurance.
October 20, 12:31 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the intersection of Mitchell Street and Alder for a white truck parked the wrong way. The reporting person felt the vehicle’s occupant looked out of place. Officer contacted the woman sitting in the truck and learned she lived in the residence she was parked in front of.
October 20, 6:26 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a Blaine business for a 911 hang up. The officer arrived and contacted employees inside and found that everything was OK. A misdialed number by an employee caused the hang-up.
October 20, 6:55 p.m.: A Blaine resident called police after learning from his wife that curtains were moving inside a recently purchased vacant home and one of the windows was ajar. An officer arrived and obtained a key from the property owner and checked the inside of the home. The only ghostly inhabitants were the very large creepy crawlies resting within their webs. A fan that was on for air circulation caused the curtain movement. The owner was notified of the officer’s findings and he was relieved nobody had set up camp inside.
October 20, 8:11 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of a man with a flashlight walking around homes. Officers arrived and were able to determine the man was a Comcast sales representative going door to door.
