June 29, 10:09 a.m.: Officers working traffic enforcement observed a vehicle speeding. Officers stopped the vehicle and determined the driver from Canada had a suspended license in Washington State. Officers arrested, cited and released the individual with mandatory court date. Officers allowed the individual to leave the vehicle legally parked for a licensed driver to retrieve. Officers cleared with no further incident.
June 29, 10:45 a.m.: Officers took a report from a citizen who explained one of his tenants hasn’t paid rent in a while and owes $10,000 in back rent. Officers advised the individual he would need to take the matter up in civil court and explained how to start the eviction process at the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office. Officers documented the circumstance and cleared with no further incident.
June 29, 4:19 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of trouble with a individual in the 1300 block of 4th Street. Officers contacted the problem individual and were unable to develop probable cause for an arrest related to this event, but this same individual was taken into custody for a warrant issued for their arrest.
June 29, 5:22 p.m.: Officers on patrol observed a vehicle parked on the shoulder. The occupant was contacted and officers learned the driver was walking on I-5 looking for lost property. Officers and WSP located the pedestrian and officers provided a courtesy ride back to his vehicle.
June 29, 5:03 p.m.: Officers took an individual into custody in the 2500 block of Peace Portal Drive after it was discovered he had a warrant for his arrest out of Bellingham Police Department.
June 30, 2:01 a.m.: Officers responded to a business alarm. Officers found the business to be secure.
June 30, 9:33 a.m.: Officers received a 911 hang up call from the Blaine Elementary School. Officers arrived to the school and went inside; no one was located inside.
June 30, 10:51 a.m.: Officers were flagged down in the 4900 block of Drayton Harbor Road for an injured bald eagle. The Whatcom Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation center was notified so that they could assist the eagle.
June 30, 1:51 p.m.: Officers received a suspicious person complaint in the 500 block of C Street. Officers arrived and discovered a male individual charging his phone outside the business. He moved along shortly after.
June 30, 3:06 p.m.: Officers responded to a 911 hang up call in the 900 block of H Street. Officers performed a security check and determined the call made was a technical issue.
June 30, 6:41 p.m.: Blaine police were dispatched to assist the WSP with a disabled motorist blocking a lane of I-5. Police arrived and stood-by for a tow truck. The truck later arrived and took the vehicle and occupants north to the Canadian border. Police cleared without incident.
June 30, 7:27 p.m.: A person reported finding two abandoned bicycles in the 1000 block of H Street. Officer took them into safekeeping.
July 1, 4:20 p.m.: A person reported that a man was singing loudly in front of a store and the reporting person did not appreciate the lyrics of the music. An officer contacted the person and asked if he could sing a little more softly and make sure the lyrics are not offending the young children entering the stores nearby. The singer said he was very sorry and did not realize he was offending anyone. He agreed to not sing so loudly or use vulgar language.
July 1, 10:13 p.m.: Officers responded to a simple assault. Officers cited the suspect and gave a mandatory court date and time
July 2, 9:30 a.m.: Officers on routine patrol observed a vehicle whose registered owner showed a suspended license in a 2nd Degree. Officers stopped the vehicle and determined the driver was the registered owner. Upon further inspection officers determined the individual was in violation of a required ignition interlock device as well. Officers arrested and booked the individual into the Whatcom County jail. Officers cleared with no further incident.
July 2, 12:30 p.m.: Dispatch reported a two vehicle non-blocking, non- injury collision. Officer’s arrived and investigated the traffic collision. One driver did receive minor injuries. The fire department arrived and treated the driver’s injuries. Officer determined one of the driver’s was at fault for the collision had crossed over the center line and struck the other vehicle. The driver at fault was cited for the traffic infraction and released.
July 2, 3:20 p.m.: A person reported that her brother punched her while they were arguing over the remote control. Officers arrived and spoke with all parties involved. Officers determined that the adult brother was the primary aggressor and that he had assaulted his sister during the domestic dispute. Officers arrested the brother for assault and booked him into jail.
July 2, 8:57 p.m.: An officer took a possible human smuggling report by phone. The Officer gave the information to U.S. Border Patrol to follow up.
July 2, 11:01 p.m.: An Officer took an order violation report. The officer determined that a no-contact order was violated. Probable cause was posted for the suspect’s arrest.
July 3, 7:58 a.m.: Officers working traffic enforcement observed a vehicle whose registered owner showed a driving status of suspended in the 3rd Degree. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as the registered owner. Officers arrested, cited and released the individual with a mandatory court date. Officers allowed the individual to have a licensed driver retrieve the vehicle. Officers cleared with no further incident.
July 3, 3:42 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the Peace Arch port of entry for a report of a minor in possession of alcohol. Officers arrived and determined a minor returning from Canada had a case of alcoholic beverage in the trunk of his vehicle. Officers arrested, cited and released the individual with a mandatory Blaine court date. Officers cleared with no further incident.
July 3, 5:30 p.m.: Officers responded to a non-injury, non-blocking collision at Bell Road and Peace Portal Drive. Another vehicle rear ended one in front of them at the stop sign. Both parties exchanged information prior to officers arriving.
July 3, 8:35 p.m.: Officers responded to the Peace Arch port of entry for an order violation. Officers confirmed there was a valid no-contact order and arrested the suspect. He was transported to the Whatcom County jail and booked in without incident.
July 3, 9:51 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a possible physical DV at a neighboring unit in the 700 block of F Street. Officer arrived and checked the apartment in question, when no noise was heard the contacted the RP and discovered the DV had moved outside. Officer canvassed the area and located the DV the next street over and found it was only a verbal argument. Officer provided the couple with a DV Victims rights from to help assist them with services.
July 3, 9:56 p.m.: Officers took a sex crime report in the 300 block of Martin Street. Investigation on-going.
July 4, 10:55 a.m.: During routine patrols, Blaine police located an illegally parked car in the 500 Block of Peace Portal Drive. The vehicle was marked but was eventually towed as it blocked pedestrian traffic for the parade. The vehicle was parked in a clearly marked “no parking” zone. The vehicle was towed without issue.
July 4, 3:25 p.m.: A man called police to request assistance with his girlfriend who was throwing his clothing into the yard. The man said nothing was broken and that he wanted to break up with her. He was advised of several courses of action, one of which was having a friend accompany him to get his belongings. The man was advised to call 911 again if things got worse.
July 4, 8:55 p.m.: Officers responded to what was reported as a rape report. Officers determined it was a mental health issue and a verbal dispute. No crime had occurred and the parties were encouraged to avoid each other for the remainder of the night.
July 5, 12:44 a.m.: An officer found a vehicle abandoned in the roadway. The registered owner was not around. The officer had the vehicle towed.
July 5, 12:57 a.m.: Officers responded to the 20 block of Boundary Court for a civil issue involving the taking of keys. Officers determined the keys were taken for a community caretaking purpose and a crime had not been committed.
July 5, 3:04 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to an open door at a business in the 1200 block of Yew Avenue. Officers arrived and checked the building to find it secure.
